MONROE Residents of the City of Monroe will know whether their water rates have increased by Wednesday night.
At 9 a.m. Wednesday, the Wisconsin Public Service Commission will hold a telephone hearing with the Monroe Water Utility office for city water rate increase.
In a letter to the city, the PSC said (Monroe Water) will provide a room for customer participation in the utility office. The office is located at 1065 5th Avenue, Monroe.
The PSC is recommending a rate increase of about 29 percent, allowing the utility an increase in annual revenues of about $382,000.
The Monroe Board of Public Works approved the water rate increase and passed it on to Common Council for its consideration.
The council is scheduled to vote on the issue at its meeting, 7:30 Wednesday, at City Hall.
Common Council and other regularly scheduled Tuesday city committee meetings were postponed until Wednesday because of the election today.
