Monroe

Kevin Frint, Boys Basketball: Scored 18 points in a win over Madison Edgewood Feb. 11 to put Monroe back in a tie for first place in the Badger South. Two days later, Frint again scored 18 in a loss to Dubuque Senior.

Cory Kundert, Wrestling: Overcame a brief injury to win his 215-pound regional semifinal in overtime. Though he lost in the final, Kundert advanced to sectionals.

Dylan Schwitz, Wrestling: Won the 145-pound bracket at the Monroe Regional and moves on to sectionals once again. Last year as a sophomore, Schwitz earned the right to represent the Cheesemakers at state.

Area Boys

Ben Schmitt, Sugar River Wrestling: Won the 160-pound division at the Monroe Regional. Schmitt is undefeated this season and looks for a big weekend at sectionals to earn a berth to state.

Ryan Geissbuhler, Argyle Basketball: Scored 15 points, including two clutch free throws late, to help the Orioles beat Black Hawk for Argyle's first win of the season.

Ross Gilbertson, Pecatonica-Argyle Wrestling: Went undefeated at the Deerfield Regional, earning a berth into sectionals at Westby this upcoming Saturday.

Area Girls

Rachel Rygh, Black Hawk Basketball: Scored 16 of her 18 points in the first half of a Feb. 8 win over New Glarus. Three days later in a win over Juda, Rygh scored 10 of her 12 points in the opening half.

Courtney Pfeuti, Albany Basketball: Scored 16 points in a 2-point win over Argyle Feb. 11.

Kim Wellnitz, Black Hawk Basketball: Became Black Hawk's all-time top scorer in girls basketball with 14 points in a Feb. 8 win over New Glarus. Wellnitz scored 13 points and played great defense on Juda's Ellen Kiser in a Feb. 11 game.
