KICKAPOO - Pecatonica-Argyle had its season come to a close Friday night with a 6-0 loss to Kickapoo-La Farge in the first round of the WIAA Division 6 football playoffs.
After letting up an early 2-yard touchdown run to Alex Cejpek, the Vikings defense buckled down and took control of the game.
In the fourth quarter, Pecatonica-Argyle twice forced the Predators to fumble and took the ball over in their own territory. Each time, however, the Vikings came up short trying to tie the game up.
Kickapoo-La Farge had 323 rushing yards on 61 carries as a team, led by Cejpek's 182 yards on 27 rushes. The Predators added 27 passing yards for a total of 350 offenses yards against the Vikings' defense.
Jon Hendrickson tried to do it all for Pecatonica-Argyle.
The seasoned quarterback was 17 of 34 passing for 196 yards and an interception, which came in the second half deep inside enemy territory.
Hendrickson also had nine carries for 23 yards, the most of any Viking. As a team, Pecatonica-Argyle mustered up just 43 rushing yards and 239 total. Alec Treuthardt had nine receptions for 90 yards to lead the Vikings.
Kickapoo (6-4) now faces one of the toughest tests in the entire state: taking on No. 1 Edgar (9-0) on the road. Had Pecatonica-Argyle (4-6) won Friday's game, the Vikings would have hosted the second-round game, per WIAA rules.
