The 34th Annual Gap Church Hymn Sing Fundraiser will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 16. Music will be by Ernie Saunders and the group “In Bed By Nine”. There is no charge and refreshments will be served. A free-will offering is appreciated. The church and cemetery are located at W2401 Wis. 59, Albany.
The Gap Church and Cemetery was established in 1853 and built in 1856 under the name of Monticello Prairie Baptist Church and Cemetery. The name Gap Church was given by the local people that lived in the area because of its location between two hills. Eventually the name just faded away and became the Gap Church and Cemetery.
This event is sponsored by the Gap Church Museum, Inc. a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the Gap Church & Cemetery. We recently completed the refurbishing of the six large windows in the church and the two partial windows in the church entryway. Next comes the windows in the community hall.
