MONROE - A trio of Monroe boys basketball players received Badger South All-Conference accolades recently.
Monroe senior Joe Latimer was a unanimous first team all-conference selection. Latimer averaged 14.3 points per game. He battled back from an ACL injury and scored nine points in a 59-56 season-ending loss to DeForest in a WIAA Division 2 sectional semifinal.
Monroe seniors Alex Barenklau and Trent Wyssbrod were each named second team all-conference. Barenklau averaged 13.1 ppg and Wyssbrod averaged 9.4 ppg.
Monroe finished the season 17-8, 7-5 in the Badger South Conference. The Cheesemakers finished behind conference co-champions Stoughton and Monona Grove. The Cheesemakers won their first regional title since 2009.
