FORT ATKINSON - The Monroe girls swimming team had three top-14 finishes in the Fort Atkinson Invitational Saturday, Oct. 19.
Monroe finished tenth at the invite out of 12 teams. Badger North Conference power DeForest won the meet. Badger finished second and Fort Atkinson took third.
Monroe freshman Skylar Lassen finished 13th in the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 2 minutes, 41.35 seconds. Lassen teamed with Anna Meritt, Abby Oudinot and Angie Beaver finished 13th in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 4:15.31. The same quartet took 14th place in the 200 freestyle relay (1:55.66).
The Cheesemakers' 200 medley relay of Beaver, Mackenzie Hesgard, Oudinot and Lassen finished 16th (2:11.23).
Beaver (1:14.12) and Sam Hose (1:24.33) both set personal records by two seconds in the 100 backstroke. Other PRs in the 50 freestyle came from Hose, December Blum, Hesgard and Mary Kelly. Alyssa Sinkule set a PR in the 100 freestyle by four seconds.
Monroe closes out the conference dual meet season at Milton Tuesday, Oct. 22 and then the Cheesemakers are at the Platteville Invite Saturday, Oct. 26.
