REEDSBURG - Creating opportunities wasn't a problem for the Monroe girls soccer team Friday. Finishing was.
The Cheesemakers put 15 shots on goal but walked away with a 3-1 loss to Reedsburg.
"Plenty of shots on goal," Monroe coach Miriam O'Neill said. "We had plenty of good opportunities and we had nice shots on goal. The girls were just unlucky tonight really."
Carleigh Adams recorded a hat trick for Reedsburg, giving the Beavers a 3-0 lead in the 50th minute. Monroe senior Chelsea Haffele ended the shutout bid when she scored on a penalty kick in the 55th minute.
"They were pretty organized, very fast," O'Neill said of the Beavers. "We are certainly struggling a little bit with injuries and I think it's become a little bit of an issue for us. Shin splints and things like that.
"I'm hoping to regroup a bit next week."
Cheesemakers senior goalkeeper Rachel Wellnitz made nine saves.
Monroe (6-8) plays at Platteville on Monday and hosts Sauk Prairie on Thursday to close the regular season.
