Redbirds stay unbeaten; Warriors fall

HIGHLAND - The Redbirds continued their undefeated start to the season by knocking off Highland on the road Monday night, 61-44.

The Redbirds took a 14-4 lead after the first quarter and held a 25-17 advantage at the half. In the third quarter, Darlington went on an insurmountable 18-8 run.

Alex Erickson scored 17 points and Tyler Shager added 14 and two 3-pointers for the Redbirds (4-0). Colton Carpenter had eight points and Tanner Havens added seven in the win.

Darlington shot 8-for-11 from the free throw line and hit 25 field goals. On Thursday, the Redbirds host Boscobel.

Warren (Ill.) 57, Black Hawk 46

WARREN - Black Hawk fell to 2-2 on the season with a road loss to Warren (Ill.).

"Warren dominated the game," Black Hawk head coach Kyle Bille said. "Both with defense and offense. Their offense was near the basket all night."

Black Hawk found itself down 13-5 after the first quarter and 23-15 at halftime. A third quarter 16-10 run by Warren put the game nearly out of hand.

"It just came down to execution on offense, and we didn't have it tonight," Bille said.

Michael Wolff scored 16 points to lead Black Hawk. T.J. Adams had 15 points and Christian Krahenbuhl added nine.

Black Hawk returns to action Thursday at home against Juda.
