GREEN BAY — With a 70-64 win over Purdue Fort Wayne in its regular season finale on Saturday, Feb. 25, the University of Wisconsin Green Bay women’s basketball team won the Horizon League conference title outright.
In that game, sophomore Bailey Butler, a 2021 Black Hawk graduate, was the second-highest scorer with 14 points and eight assists. She led all players with three steals.
Two days later on Monday, Feb. 27, the Horizon League announced its All-League winners, naming Butler to the All-League second team and All-Defense team.
Freshman of the Year a season ago, Butler averages 30.5 minutes on the court, the most among her Phoenix teammates. She also leads in assists (4.0 apg) and steals (1.4 spg). Butler has gone to the free-throw line a team-leading 75 times, cashing in on 63 of those opportunities for a .840 percentage. In 29 games, in which she’s started them all, Butler has scored 257 points for an average of 8.9 ppg.
After a first-round bye in the Horizon League tournament, UWGB played Wright State in the quarterfinals. As of press time, the game had not been played.
