WISCONSIN DELLS - The Raiders were beating Wisconsin Dells 1-0 until lightning put an end to the game just after the 18-minute mark.

Cameron Blankenship scored his first goal of the season for Sugar River (11-4-2, 7-0 Capitol South) early on and shortly after the team began putting reserves into the game.

"We scored that goal and hit the post twice," coach Richard Sanders said. "They had gotten the ball across midfield twice at the 18-minute mark. We didn't want to run up the score on them."

Sanders said he would make a request for the 1-0 score to stand as final. If both coaches agree, Sugar River will officially be awarded the victory, something Sanders said he thinks is likely given that "the seeding and position in conference for both teams is pretty much set."

The Raiders will play at Lakeside Lutheran Tuesday, Oct. 8. If Sugar River wins, they would win an outright Capitol Conference championship.
