Monroe's U-14 boys team, U-12 girls tie weekend games

MONROE - Monroe U-14 boys rebel Scorpions continued their unbeaten start to the season with a hard fought 2-2 road tie against McFarland Blackhawks on Saturday.

Monroe started the season with six straight wins before the tie.

McFarland, also passed the ball around nicely and it was easy to see why they sit second in the table.

In the 15th minute, McFarland took the lead.

Monroe tied it up when Niven Tomasiewicz converted a penalty.

Goalkeeper Jordan Pryce came out of the goal in the second half to play striker and scored the go-ahead goal with 15 minutes remaining. He picked up the ball some 20 yards from goal and smashed the ball into the top corner.

McFarland later tied it up for good on a penalty kick.

Play had hardly time to re-start before the final whistle sounded, signaling a 2-2 tie.

Scorpions will have a chance to wrap up the division if they are able to beat Stoughton on Saturday at Honey Creek.

U-12 Rebel Strikers

The U-12 girls Rebel Strikers took on Beaver Dam at home on Saturday and tied 3-3.

Goalie for the first half was Morgan Seffrood, who had three saves.

Beaver Dam scored first followed by a Monroe goal by Emily Benzschawel.

Beaver Dam scored two more times to end the half ahead 3-1. Benzschawel was the goal keeper in the second half and earned 2 saves.

The Rebels scored two goals in the second half to tie it up before the whistle. Goals were made by Kennedy Ludwig, assisted by Heather Burkhalter, and Ally Einbeck, assisted by Ludwig.
