Monroe team will host 'Chase'

MONROE - The Monroe girls cross country team will host its inaugural Cheesemaker Chase 4k/5k fundraiser run on Saturday, Aug. 15.

There will be 10 divisions, based on age and gender. All runners in the 14-year-old and under will run in the freshman race. Those age 15-19 will run in the sophomore race; 20-24 in the junior; 25-29 in the senior; and 30-year-old and up in the Graduate division.

The top three finishers in each division will be awarded for their accomplishments.

"This is your chance to run with, or against, the boys and girls cross country teams," girls cross country coach Brian Jefferson said.

The race will be held at Twining Park, with both the start and finish taking place at the North Shelter. The course is the course the Cheesemakers race during home meets.

Registration prior to Aug. 3 is $15. On-site registration the day of the race is $18, but will not include a guaranteed T-shirt. All checks should be made payable to "MHS."

There is no make-up date should weather cancel the event. However, Jefferson said that the event will run in any weather except for lightning. Registration is non-refundable.

Information can be picked up at the high school main office, Ruf's on the Square or at Heartland Graphics.

All registration forms can be mailed to 2515 13th Street, Apt. 4, Monroe, or dropped off at the High School main office.
