PLATTEVILLE - Members of the Monroe girls swimming team convinced their coach a confidence boost wasn't needed Saturday after rolling to a 92-78 dual meet win over Platteville-Lancaster.

"A win is always a good thing," Monroe coach Linda Moser said. "We didn't go into it thinking about winning or losing. There are enough jitters going into the pool for the first time."

Monroe junior Kendell Niffenegger won two individual events, including the 200-meter freestyle (2 minutes, 18.88 seconds) and the 100 butterfly (1:11.59), and also was a member of the winning 200 medley relay.

"She is very much ahead of last year's pace," Moser said. "I attribute that to her swimming all summer."

The Cheesemakers' 200 medley relay team of Randi Robertson, Leanna Schwartzlow, Niffenegger and Britney Johnson took first with a time of 2:06.42.

Robertson also won the 50 freestyle (:28.22) and finished second in the 100 freestyle (1:02.13).

The Cheesemakers' team of Robertson, Katie Coplien, Britney Johnson and Schwartzlow finished first in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:56.10.

Schwartzlow took first in the 200 IM ( 2:24.91) and the 100 breaststroke (1:14.57)

Veronica Andraski finished first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:08.94.
