BELOIT - The Monroe boys golf team shot a 370 and finished 14th out of 20 teams at the Beloit Invitational Friday.
Monroe junior Jack Rogerson shot a season-best 12-over-par 82 at the Krueger Haskell Golf Course to lead the Cheesemakers. Rogerson was 10-over-par on the back nine where he started. He rebounded by shooting just 2-over-par on the front nine.
"He really struggled chipping in the beginning," Monroe coach Braden Rindy said. "He really turned his game around. It (front nine two-over-par) really saved his round. He's totally capable of getting in the 70s."
Badger captured the team title 311-322 over Sun Prairie. Behind the Cheesemakers (14th) was Brodhead which shot a 381 for 15th. Badger's Blake Wisdom shot a 1-over-par 73 top win the tournament by one shot over Kenosha Tremper's Cameron Huss.
Monroe sophomore Noah Becker shot an 89 followed by senior Collyn Wilde who carded a 90.
Sophomore teammate Connor Allen rounded out the top four for Monroe shooting a 109.
Brodhead senior Parker Johnson shot an 86 to lead the Cardinals. Sophomore Dayton Oliver carded an 86 and junior Derrick Obrone finished with a 96. Senior Lucas Reed rounded out the top four with a 112.
