Monroe last at W-town

WATERTOWN - Both the Monroe boys and girls track teams finished last in a Badger South Conference triangular meet Tuesday.

"We didn't take our top 12," Monroe boys coach Scott Mosher said. "They got a good workout yesterday and will get a good workout today."

Monona Grove captured the team title in the boys meet with 89 points, which was ahead of runner-up Watertown (66) and Monroe (25). In the girls' meet, Monona Grove finished first (73.5), followed by Watertown (66) and Monroe (41.5).

Monroe's 800 relay team of Alex Barradas, Anthony Neuenschwander, Owen Christen and Ethan Kleckler won the race with a time of 1 minute, 43.90 seconds.

Monroe sophomore Jake Bower took second in the 400 (56.39) and third in the 800 (2:16.67). The Cheesemakers' 400 relay team of Christen, Patrick Rielly, Jack Garthwaite and Michael Kundert finished second (49.55). Monroe's 3,200 relay team of Brennan Shelton, Chance Nielsen, Austin Coulthard and Gabe Witt took second (10:13.12).

In the girls meet, Monroe sophomore Jada Love won the long jump with a jump of 14 feet, 10 ½ inches.

Monroe junior Cammi Ganshert finished second in the 100 (13.14). Sophomore teammate Bri Seagreaves took second in the 100 hurdles (18.76) and second in the 300 hurdles (56.49). Sophomore Chloe Bunker placed second in the discus (97-10).

Freshman Megan Benzschawel finished third in the high jump (4-6) and senior Payton Sigafus took third in the pole vault (8-0).
