MONONA - Savanah Cruz scored two goals to propel Monona Grove to a 4-0 win over Monroe Friday.
The Silver Eagles scored four goals in the first half.
"I think we were overwhelmed a little bit," Monroe coach Miriam O'Neill said. "I think they have a tough and strong attack."
Cruz scored the first goal at 5 minutes, 5 seconds. She scored her second goal in the 34th minute.
"We knew Savanah Cruz was a major threat," O'Neill said. "She was first-team all-conference last year."
The Silver Eagles outshot the Cheesemakers 15-8. With the loss, Monroe drops to 5-7-2, 0-3 Badger South.
"We had a lot more scoring opportunities in the second half," O'Neill said. "When you get down four goals, it's tough to come back."
Monroe will host Platteville at 11 a.m. today at Honey Creek Park.
