Mite A team melts Polar Caps

MONROE - On Saturday, Jan. 30, the Avalanche Mite A team played at Oregon against the Oregon Mite A team. Riley Jones opened the scoring for the Avalanche with a goal in the first period, assisted by Joe Wyss. Oregon then retaliated with two goals of their own.

Then with 40 seconds left in the third period and down 2-1, Emma Ness passed to Cade Janecke who scored to tie the game 2-2. The game ended in a 2-2 tie. Payton Stauffacher had 16 saves in the contest.

Then on Sunday, Jan. 31, the Mite A team traveled to Madison Ice Arena to take on the Polar Caps B team. Monroe won 7-2. For the Avalanche, Travis Edmunds had a hat trick, Emma Ness had two goals, and Tessa and Cade Janecke each had a goal. Emma Ness and Joe Wyss both had two assists while Heath Bear had one assist. Payton Stauffacher had nine saves in the game.

On Sunday, Jan. 31, the Mite B team skated at Capitol Ice Arena against the Waunakee Wildcats Mite B team. Kaiden Klitzke was great in the net saving 26 shots and giving up only 4 goals. Luke Kuberski had the only goal for the Avalanche, who lost the game 4-1.
