MONROE - Milton swept the Cheesemakers Thursday in a Badger South dual.

"This was our second straight match where we were simply outmatched," Monroe coach Matt Bordner said. "Milton has a really competitive varsity team and those kids are well-coached and have been playing for a while. We were playing short-handed."

Monroe had two doubles players out - one due to illness and another to an injury.

"We had to shift around our lineup, but we still fought hard in some of these sets," Bordner said.

In the No. 1 singles match, Zach Richard topped Spencer Adamo 6-0, 6-2. Tate Dunk defeated Bo Bahler 6-4, 6-1 in the No. 2 singles match, and at No. 3 Monroe's Chris Andraski fell to Evan Mallon 6-0, 6-2.

"Bo Bahler played a great first set in which he was up early on, but fell behind and couldn't dig himself out of that second set," Bordner said.

In the doubles matches, David Keegan and Nick Quinn of Monroe lost the No. 1 match 6-1, 6-0, and Nick Schumacher and Luke Quinn lost the No. 2 match 6-1, 7-5. At No. 3 doubles, Quinn Schultz and Landon Knobel lost 6-1, 6-1.

"Nick Schumacher and Luke Quinn had a nice second set. They jumped out to a 4-1 lead but couldn't close it out. It was their first time playing together so it was great to see them start to gel with each other as the match wore on," Bordner said.

The Cheesemakers don't have much time to recover as they face Jefferson today.

"We have a lot to work on, and it'll be nice to have more time for practices in the next few weeks. We have Jefferson, and then from there we will start preparing for the final stretch of the season before reaching the conference tournament," Bordner said. "I think our footwork was really exposed in this match and Milton did a great job of mixing up their shots and keeping our guys running all around the court."
