MONROE - Monona Grove's Sequoia Cruz scored two goals to lead the Silver Eagles to a 4-1 win over Monroe in a Badger South Conference game at T.R. Holyoke Field Tuesday.
Monroe senior Kennedy Ludwig scored a goal on an assist by sophomore Alexa Bader to give the Cheesemakers a 1-0 lead at 10 minutes, 1 second. The Silver Eagles answered with four unanswered goals.
Monona Grove's Emma Goke scored a game-tying goal at 12:49 to tie the game at 1. Jordyn Metcalfe scored a go-ahead goal at 42:28 to give the Silver Eagles a 2-1 lead at the half.
Cruz scored both of her goals in the second half to seal the win for Monona Grove.
With the loss, Monroe drops to 3-5 overall and 0-4 in the Badger South Conference.
Monroe senior goalkeeper Reily Pond had a game-high 20 saves.
Sugar River 2, Lodi 0
LODI - Sugar River's Julia McNamer and Aimee Sies each scored goals to propel the Raiders to a win over rival Lodi in a Capitol Conference matchup Tuesday.
McNamer scored a goal on an assist by Sies in the first half. Sies added a goal in the second half to seal the win. With the win, Sugar River improves to 7-0-1 overall and 3-0 in the Capitol Conference.
"Considering either Sugar River or Lodi have won the past 10 conference titles, the game had both teams eager to take the lead in the race to winning the 2018 title," Sugar River coach John Ziperski said.
The Raiders outshot the Blue Devils 15-9. Sugar River junior goalie Rachael Heittola had nine saves.
