MAST impressive in home meet

Monroe 11-year-old Alyssa Heidenreich swims the 11-12 year old 50-meter free during the MASTs three-team meet Wednesday evening at the Monroe Municipal pool. Heidenreich finished in 10th place in the race.
MONROE - The Monroe Area Swim Team hosted and defeated second place Madison East YMCA Optimists and Sugar River on Wednesday evening at the Monroe Municipal Pool, by a score of 631.5-429.5-300.

Monroe's Grace Keith won the girls 8-and-under 50-meter freestyle and 25-meter backstrokes.

Sugar River 10-year-old, Reagan Anderson took the top spot in the 9-10 50 freestyle and 50 back. Anna Meritt, a Monroe 10-year-old, won the 9-10 50 butterfly by three seconds over Anderson.

Monroe's Ericah Johnson won the 13-14 100 free. Allie Coplien won the 13-14 50 breaststroke. Monroe's 200 relay team of Rachel Root, Angie Beaver, Marissa Berg and Coplien topped its MAST counterpoint by 18 seconds. The same group also won the 200 medley relay.

Berg, a 12-year-old, also won the open 50 free, beating out a group of seven racers, all between the ages of 15 to18. Root won the open 100 free, the open 50 butterfly, and the open 200 individual medley.

Leanna Schwartzlow won the open 200 free, the open 50 back, and the open 50 breast.

On the boys side, Sugar River's Christopher George won the 8-and-under 25 free, beating a pair of teammates, as well as both the 8-and-under 50 free and 25 back.

Noah Dalsing, also of Sugar River, took first in the 25 fly. Noah Zimmerman took first in the 9-10 50 free by nearly seven seconds. Sugar River won the 10-and-under 200 meter relay, which consisted of Kyle Fredrickson, Benjamin Yeiser, Max Hoffmaster and Dalsing, as well as the 200 medley relay.

Monroe's Cody Wolf won the 11-12 100 free and Niven Tomasiewicz won the 11-12 50 back.

Monroe's Jim Curran won the 13-14 50 free, 100 free, and 50 butterfly. Luke Andraski won the 13-14 50-breast and 50 back.

Andraski, Wolf, Grant Keith and Mitch Keith won the 13-14 200 relay and 200 medley relay.

Paul Fenner, Monroe, won the open 50 free and 50 back while Will Fenner won the open 100 free and open 50 butterfly.

Curran, both Fenner's, and Spencer Keith won the 200 free relay and the 200 medley relay.
