MONROE — The WIAA released the boys soccer playoff brackets Oct. 13. In Division 3, Monroe will travel to Mount Horeb Oct. 24, while Sugar River will host Cambridge-Deerfield the same night.
Monroe (2-11) was given the 14-seed in the sectional, while fifth-ranked Mount Horeb (8-5-1) is the No. 3 seed. Sugar River (10-6) was scheduled to play Cambridge-Deerfield (6-5-3) on the road Oct. 14 in a regular season game that could have huge implications for the Capitol Conference title. The Raiders are one win from clinching at least a share of the conference championship and have two games to play.
The winner of Monroe-Mount Horeb will face either 11th-seeded Whitewater (6-9-1) or Jefferson (10-4-3), the 6-seed. Should Sugar River get past Cambridge-Deerfield, top-seeded McFarland will be the likely opponent in the Oct. 26 regional final, barring a massive upset of the state’s top-ranked team by either Adams-Friendship (1-12) or Edgerton (0-11), which face off in the play-in game Oct. 22.
McFarland (10-2-4) was the top-seeded team in the sectional, with third-ranked Delavan-Darien (16-1-3) second and Platteville-Lancaster (9-1-1) fourth.
