Sugar River wins Cambridge Invite

CAMBRIDGE — Sugar River boys scored 145 points to finish first in the Cambridge Invite on Thursday, April 11. The girls finished fourth with 86 points. Albany boys took fifth with 73 points, and Monticello boys finished 12th with 9 points. On the girls side, Albany finished ninth with 27 points, and Monticello girls took 12th with 13 points.

Sugar River won three relays — boys 4x400 relay, girls 4x100 relay and girls 4x800 relay — with a handful of individual champions.  Jonah Wortman won the 100-meter wheelchair (29.28), 400-meter wheelchair (2:51.57), 800-meter wheelchair (5:28.49), and shot put wheelchair 9-11;  Jack Erickson the 200-meter dash (22.90) and 300-meter hurdles (41.67);  Carter Scholey the 1,600-meter run (4:41.08); and Alora Spiegel the 1,600-meter run (5:46.17).

Albany received first-place finishes from the boys 4x100 relay, Bryce Hughes in the high jump (6-0), and Ava Ahnen in the 800-meter run (2:40.95).

Natalie Wahl was the lone champion for Monticello, winning the discus (99-7).


ROCK VALLEY RELAYS

CLINTON — Brodhead-Juda smoked the competition in the Rock Valley Relays on Saturday, April 13, beating the second-place teams by nearly 20 points each. Collectively, the Cardinals won the girls 4x100 and 4x200 relays. High jump was another area of note, with Tegan Pinnow (6-0) and Addison Yates (5-2) winning their respective divisions.


CASSVILLE-POTOSI INVITE

CASSVILLE — Argyle-Pecatonica and Black Hawk split its squads for the Cassville-Potosi Invite on Thursday, April 11. The AP girls, who remained one collective team, took second with 114 points. Black Hawk A tallied 78 points and Black Hawk B 8 points. On the boys side, Black Hawk A finished fourth with 81 points. Black Hawk B earned one point. Argyle-Pecatonica A finished with 62 points, and Argyle-Pecatonica B scored 19 points.

Collectively, Black Hawk won the girls 4x200 and 4x400 relays. Individually, Lane Marty won the 110-meter hurdles (16.63) and 300-meter hurdles (44.34); and Griffin Komprood the shot put (42-00.25).

Argyle-Pecatonica boys won the 4x400 relay, while Anna Tisch took first in three events: 100-meter hurdles (17.75), 300-meter hurdles (48.70), and long jump (15-03.75).


LANCASTER INVITE

LANCASTER — Darlington boys and girls finished 10th and fourth, respectively, in the Lancaster Invite on Thursday, April 11. The event featured 14 teams.

The highest finish for the boys was Isaac Crist’s third-place finish in the 400-meter dash. On the girls side, the Lady Redbird 4x800 relay squad — Raquel Reuter, Brianna Vazquez, Alexis Murray and Adalee Berget — finished first. Adalee Berget finished second in the 800-meter run, and Josie Meister was the shot put runner up.
