MONROE — The Green County Genealogical Society will hold its May 4 meeting at 10 a.m. at the Union Presbyterian Church, located at 2707 5th Street, Monroe.
Marie Pagel will talk about her experiences while teaching in a country school. Pagel taught in country schools for 13 years and continued her career as a teacher for another 28 years. All of those years were in Green County.
The Genealogical Society will have some memorabilia from area schools for viewing. The audience is encouraged to ask questions and share their school memories.
The School House at the Green County Historical Center will be open following the meeting for visitors.
For any questions about the meeting or presentation, call Donna at 608-921-1537. The GCGS Research Center (located in the lower level of the Monroe Public Library) is closed to the public for research. The center is undergoing renovations and will reopen in late May.
