JuBany coach Davis earns 250th career win

JUDA — With a 10-2 win over Clinton in its triangular on Saturday, April 27, Juda-Albany celebrated head coach Bill Davis’s 250th career win. Davis began coaching the Panthers in 2009 and has led the team to nine conference titles, seven regional championships, three sectional titles, one state runner-up finishe and a state title in 2017.

Against Clinton, Juda-Albany smashed 12 hits, including four that were for extra bases. Myah Johnson finished 3-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs. Avary Briggs was a homerun shy of the cycle, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Anna Ellinger and Phoenix Homan also recorded multiple hit games. Homan drove in three.

Avary Briggs picked up the win, giving up two unearned runs on three hits. She struck out seven and walked one.


JUDA-ALBANY 5, PALMYRA-EAGLE 4

JUDA — Johnson roped an RBI double in the bottom of the seventh, walking off Palmyra-Eagle in the JuBany Triangular on April 27. She finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs to lead the offense.

Alana Durtschi and Emerson Briggs also recorded multiple-hit games. Durtschi came in for relief in the sixth and seventh to collect the win. She struck out three batters and didn’t issue a walk.


HIGHLAND 5, JUDA-ALBANY 1

JUDA — Eight errors plagued the Panthers in a Six Rivers crossover game against the No. 8 Cardinals on Thursday, April 25. Johnson was responsible for two of the team’s seven hits, while Lavinia Rufer drove in the only RBI. Avary Briggs suffered the loss, giving up two earned runs in five innings pitched. She struck out five and walked one.


JEFFERSON 7, MONROE 2

JEFFERSON — After upsetting the No. 6 Eagles on April 23, the Cheesemakers fell in a RVC-Valley game on April 25. Monroe outhit Jefferson 6-5 but committed six errors in the field.

Emma Tran was the offensive spark, going 2-for-3 with a homerun and two RBIs. Kaegann Paulson suffered the loss, giving up one earned run in five innings pitched. She struck out three but walked four.


MONROE 4, ST. MARY CATHOLIC 3;

SAINT MARY’S SPRINGS 5, MONROE 4

NEENAH — Two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth gave Monroe the edge over St. Mary Catholic in Game 1 of a triangular on Saturday, April 27. Tran hit a two-RBI triple on the first pitch of her at bat to score Sophie Golembiewski and pinch runner Kaya Holverson.

Golembiewski finished 2-for-3 at the plate and picked up the win in the circle. She gave up two earned runs in four innings pitched. She struck out two and walked two. Paulson pitched three innings of hitless relief.

In Game 2, Brinley Roidt got caught stretching an RBI single into a double to end the game. Roidt represented the game-tying run. She finished 3-for-4 with a homerun and four RBIs. Paulson also recorded a multiple-hit game, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored. She suffered the loss in the circle, giving up five runs on 11 hits.


BRODHEAD 5, TURNER 0

BELOIT — With a win over the Trojans on April 25, No. 1 Brodhead earned the season sweep of No. 6 Turner. 

Ava Risum played a large role in the victory, going 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs at the plate. In the circle, she pitched a one-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts. The Cardinals put up 11 hits, with multiple-hit games from Sophia Leitzen and Jaelyn Hilliard. 


ARGYLE-BLACK HAWK 6, RIVER RIDGE 3

SOUTH WAYNE — A five-run third and clean defensive effort led to a Six Rivers Conference crossover victory for the Orioles on April 25.

Sam Kammes led the offense, going 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Mya McNett earned the win, giving up three runs on seven hits. She struck out 10 and walked six.


IOWA-GRANT 5, DARLINGTON 4

LIVINGSTON — Despite matching the Panthers hit-for-hit, the Redbirds fell in a SWAL game on April 25. Darlington committed four errors in the field that led to three unearned runs.

The Redbirds got seven hits from seven different players, but Sydney Wiegel led the offense with two RBIs. Sophie Wiegel suffered the loss, giving up two earned runs on seven hits. She struck out six and walked just one.
