PRAIRIE DU SAC — The Monroe-New Glarus swim team opened the season at the Sauk Prairie Relays on Aug. 30.

“Due to having a smaller team, we entered eight relays out of the twelve total relay events. However, out of the eight relays we swam in, six of the relays finished in the top three,” said Rachel Root, MNG co-coach. The Cheesemakers finished second in two races, and third in four more.

The relay team of Amelia Gieb, Brinlee Chapman, Danika Doll and Kristina Foley finished second in the 200-Medley. Anna Zentner, Delaney Lynch, Megan Chapman and Piper Faber were second in the 4x50 Freshman/Sophomore race.

Third place finished included the 4x100 IM Relay with Riley Hoesly, Geib, Faber and Maggie Piper; 4x50 Breast/Fly with Chapman, Zentner, Piper and Lynch; the 4x50 Fly with Zentner, Lynch, Piper and Hoesly; and the 400-Free with Chapman, Doll, Geib and Hoesly.

“We had a few swimmers that swam close to their season best times from last year. Our freshmen swimmers swam well at their first high school meet,” Root said. “We are excited to watch our team continue to improve throughout the season. The swimmers did a great job supporting one another throughout the meet.”

The next meet for Monroe-New Glarus is Thursday, Sept. 8 against Oregon at the Green County Family YMCA.
