No. 4 Darlington tops Boscobel by 40

DARLINGTON — The Redbirds, ranked No. 4 in Division 4, remains just one game behind Mineral Point in the SWAL with an 81-40 win over Boscobel on Thursday, Jan. 11. Darlington led by 30 at halftime.

Broker Buschor led the team with 21 points and nine rebounds. Will Murray tallied 19 points, and Zeke Zuberbuhler chipped in 16 as the three Redbirds in double figures. Zuberbuhler, Reagan Jackson and Brady Long accounted for the three made baskets beyond the arc. Long, who scored 5 points, recorded 10 assists. 

ARGYLE 70, JUDA 32

JUDA — The Orioles maintain their lead in the Six Rivers East with a conference win over the Panthers on Thursday, Jan. 11. Juda bested Argyle in just two statistical categories — free throws (4 of 10 for 40%; 9 of 23 for 39%) and offensive rebounds (20-17).

Mason McNett was just one rebound away from a double-double, tallying nine rebounds with 15 points. Will Helfvogt paced the Oriole offense with 23 points, including a pair of threes. The other two Orioles in double figures were Jeremiah Collins and Max Godfrey, with 10 points each.

Braydon Steinmann led Juda with 17 points, going 3-for-12 beyond the arc. Jayden Brown crashed the glass for a team-high nine rebounds. Diesel Ostby collected eight rebounds.

BARNEVELD 64, BLACK HAWK 37

SOUTH WAYNE — Six Rivers East leading scorer Kasey Helgeson dropped 19 points in a conference win over the Warriors on Thursday, Jan. 11. The Eagles recorded nine 3-pointers to the Warriors’ one. 

Carter Baumgartner led Black Hawk with 10 points, going 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. As a team, the Warriors shot 14 of 25 from the charity stripe. 

EDGERTON 82, MONROE 58

MONROE — In a Rock Valley Conference crossover game on Thursday, Jan. 11 the Rock Division-leading Crimson Tide downed the Cheesemakers. Monroe scored 30 points in the paint and drew 14 fouls, but Edgerton countered with 12 baskets beyond the arc.

James Seagreaves scored 20 points with 11 rebounds for a double-double. Ryan Mathiason also finished in double figures with 11 points. 

GIRLS BASKETBALL

ARGYLE-PECATONICA 70, PARKVIEW 37

ARGYLE — The Orioles, ranked No. 2 in Division 5, allowed just 15 first-half points against Division 4 Parkview in a nonconference contest on Thursday, Jan. 11.

Four of the five starters finished in double figures, led by Anna Tisch with 16 points. Avari Steiner and Brooke Wellnitz scored 14 each, and Kylie Butler had 12. The fifth starter, Loretta Tisch, tallied six points.

BRODHEAD 80, JOHNSON CREEK 33

BRODHEAD — The Cardinals scored 53 first-half points in a nonconference win over the Bluejays on Thursday, Jan. 11.

Allie Dahl scored a career-high 25 points, including a pair of free throws and 3-pointer. Addison Yates chipped in 16 points, and Makenna Schooff went 6-for-6 from the line in her 10-point total. As a team, the Cardinals shot 17 of 19 at the charity stripe.
