NEW GLARUS — With a 71-38 victory over Marshall on Friday, Feb. 17, the New Glarus girls basketball program concluded its conference season undefeated. More importantly, the victory marked the end of a perfect regular season for the Knights — the program’s first.
Grace Nommensen led the Knights with her third overall and second straight double-double, recording 13 points and 12 rebounds. Lindsey Schadewalt contributed 26 points to the offense, including three 3-pointers. Alex Atwell also scored in double figures with 13 points and nine rebounds. At the free-throw line, Melanie Fink, Elle Lancaster and Atwell were a perfect 2-for-2.
DARLINGTON 63, RIVERDALE 24
DARLINGTON — The Redbirds limited the Chieftains to just five first-half points in their SWAL victory on Friday, Feb. 17. Darlington bested Riverdale in every statistical category except for 3-pointers made.
Aubrey McCarthy scored a season-high 15 points, going 7-for-9 at the charity stripe. She also led the team in rebounds with seven. Cayla Golackson also scored in double figures with 11 points. Jaidyn Evenstad accounted for the Redbirds’ only 3-pointer.
PECATONICA 72, ARGYLE 53
ARGYLE — Despite a win to close out their regular season on Friday, Feb. 17, Viking head coach Linda Hendrickson thought her squad could have performed better.
“I thought we could have played better defensively tonight, especially in the second half,” Hendrickson said. “We switched to man, hoping to get some energy going. We gave up too many second-chance points.”
Hendrickson was proud of Chloe Schraepfer and Anna Tisch’s offensive contributions, though, as the pair put up 28 and 23 points, respectively. They each sank a pair of 3-pointers, while Anna Tisch alone was 7-for-11 at the free-throw line. Loretta Tisch also drained two shots beyond the arc in her nine-point total.
Mya McNett paced the Orioles with 18 points, 14 of which came in the second half. She went 6 for 11 from the charity stripe. Sara Helfvogt also scored in double figures with 14 points, including Argyle’s only 3-pointers.
BLACK HAWK 61, JUDA 20
SOUTH WAYNE — Raylin Peterson and Jaliyah Collins led the Warriors to a win on Friday, Feb. 17 over the Panthers, ending their conference season on a good note.
The pair put up 18 and 14 points, respectively to lead the offense. The Warriors made three shots from beyond the arc with one each from Mya Milz, Keira Haldiman and Peterson. At the charity stripe, Hailey Wellnitz and Collins made both of their attempts.
Ciarrah Davis supplied half of the Panther offense with 10 points. She was 4-for-5 from the free-throw line. The only three for Juda came from Briliey Swedlund.
MONTICELLO 19, BARNEVELD 59
BARNEVELD — The rim wasn’t friendly to the Ponies, as they dropped their final conference game on Friday, Feb. 17.
Dalana Trumpy had 10 of Monticello’s 19 points, with four of them at the free-throw line. The Ponies shot 1 of 20 from beyond the arc, with the make coming from Jaden Zuber. On the boards, DeLenn Gillaspie, Molly Olson, Karlee Wilkins and Trumpy grabbed five rebounds each.
EDGERTON 54, BRODHEAD 37
EDGERTON — The Crimson Tide limited the Cardinals offense in a Rock Valley Conference game on Friday, Feb. 17.
Alecia Dahl and Abbie Dix were the only players to score in double figures for Brodhead with 10 points each. Dix also led in rebounds with six. Alexis Kammerer drained a pair of 3-pointers in her nine-point total.
