Murray scores 1,000th career pt. in 77-28 win over Fennimore

DARLINGTON — The Redbirds, ranked No. 1 in Division 4, picked up their second SWAL Conference win over the Golden Eagles, 77-28, on Tuesday, Dec. 12. Darlington led 41-8 at halftime.

Will Murray paced the team with 26 points and seven rebounds. During the game, Murray scored his 1,000th career point. Broker Buschor and Brady Long also scored in double figures with 15 and 10 points, respectively. 

JEFFERSON 71, MONROE 62

JEFFERSON — Despite just a one-point deficit at halftime, Monroe fell to Jefferson in a RVC game on Tuesday, Dec. 12. The Cheesemakers continued their dominance in the paint with 30 points but committed 17 turnovers and 21 fouls.

James Seagreaves recorded his first double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds. He was one of three players in double figures, including Mekhi Brown (15 points) and Brandon Bassett (14 points). 

ARGYLE 51, BELMONT 34

BELMONT — The Orioles limited the Braves to just eight points in the first half en route to a conference crossover win on Monday, Dec. 11.

The trio of Ike Waage (14 points), Will Helfvogt (13) and Max Godfrey (11) paced Argyle’s offense. As a team, the Orioles shot 11-for-21 at the free-throw line with four 3-pointers. 

MONTICELLO 56, MADISON COUNTRY DAY 51

WAUNAKEE — The Ponies capitalized on the Prairie Hawks’ turnovers in a game on Monday, Dec. 11. Madison Country Day committed 25 turnovers, leading to 20 points for Monticello. The two teams exchanged the lead 12 times before Ryer Indergand scored off a steal, giving the Ponies the lead for good at 24-22.

Indergand led the offense with 20 points, including three 3-pointers. Alex Roe recorded a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. He also had a pair of 3s.

EDGERTON 83, BRODHEAD 50

EDGERTON — Brodhead trailed Edgerton 40-15 at halftime and was unable to recover in a RVC conference loss on Tuesday, Dec. 12. Gabe Bockhop, Jaxon Dooley and Nathan Engen were the only players to score in the first half.

Cullen Walker led the Cardinals with 12 points — all in the second half. Bockhop finished with 10, as did Dooley. Engen paced Brodhead on the glass with nine rebounds.  

In other local basketball, Weston defeated Black Hawk 55-37, and Juda fell to Madison Country Day 67-53.
