MONTICELLO — With one-run wins over Pecatonica and Darlington, Monticello-New Glarus improves to 6-8 on the season. The last time Monticello had six wins or more was in 2015, when the Ponies went 13-6 under Duane Garrison. The last time New Glarus had six wins or more was in 2017, when the Knights went 10-13 under Hannah (Grossen) Bechtolt.


MONTICELLO-NEW GLARUS 10, PECATONICA 9

MONTICELLO — Veronica Tollakson hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to give the Ponies their third SRE win of the season. Tatum O’Bel had led off the inning with a walk, and pinch runner Brynn Degenhardt stole and scored the winning run.

Tollakson was one of three MNG players to tally three hits. She finished 3-for-5 with four RBIs. Dalana Trumpy was also 3-for-5 with two triples and three runs scored. Molly Olson tallied three hits and two RBIs. 

O’Bel pitched five innings of relief to earn the win. She gave up three unearned runs on three hits. She struck out three and walked one.

Six Vikings tallied two hits, led by Sophia Schraepfer and Alyssa Cassidy who also had two RBIs. Diana Hendrickson pitched 7 1/3 innings relief, giving up three earned runs on nine hits. She struck out 13 and walked two.


MONTICELLO-NEW GLARUS 4, DARLINGTON 3

NEW GLARUS — After the Redbirds scored two runs in the sixth to tie the game, the Ponies responded with an RBI single from Megan Peterson to regain the lead and earn the win.

Reagan Mimetz led the MNG offense, going 2-for-3 with one run scored. Kira Whisler picked up the win, giving up three runs on nine hits. She struck out seven and walked one.

Ella Winslow and Braelyn Grossen went a combined 4-for-6 with two RBIs and two runs scored to spark the Redbirds. Raynie Norgard had the only extra-base hit of the game, an RBI double in the second. Sophie Wiegel suffered the loss, giving up two earned runs on seven hits. She struck out five and walked four.


SOUTHWESTERN 8, DARLINGTON 1

HAZEL GREEN — Darlington jumped on Southwestern early, scoring in the top of the first of a SWAL game on May 6. That was the only run the Redbirds could muster, suffering the loss.

Sydney Wiegel and Sophie Wiegel tallied back-to-back hits, and Sophie Wiegel came around to score on a wild pitch. Lylah Norgard led the offense, going 2-for-4. Sophie Wiegel suffered the loss, giving up four earned runs on 12 hits. She struck out three and walked one.


BARNEVELD 12, 

JUDA-ALBANY 4

JUDA — The Panthers led the No. 8 Eagles 4-3 going into the fifth inning before ceding seven runs and, effectively, the Six Rivers East Conference title. Barneveld tallied 18 hits and capitalized on five Juda-Albany errors. 

Alana Durtschi paced the squad, going 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored. Phoenix Homan also recorded a multiple-hit game. Avary Briggs suffered the loss, giving up five earned runs on 14 hits. She struck out five and walked just one.


ARGYLE-BLACK HAWK 2, JUDA-ALBANY 1

ARGYLE — Oriole pitcher Mya McNett pitched a no-hitter against defending Six Rivers East champions Juda-Albany on May 7. She struck out six batters and walked just two to earn the win.

At the plate, Maddy Lange and Ava Wiegel tallied one and one RBI each to lead the offense.

Alana Durtschi scored the only run for the Panthers and drew two walks. Avary Briggs was charged with the loss, giving up one earned run on four hits. She struck out five and didn’t issue a walk.


BARNEVELD 11, 

PECATONICA 4

BARNEVELD — Brooklyn Johnsrud couldn’t be retired in a conference game against the Eagles, but her efforts didn’t result in a win for the Vikings. Pecatonica tallied just five hits and committed three errors.

Johnsrud finished 2-for-2 with a walk and RBI to lead the team. Maddie Hirsch was also a spark atop the lineup, going 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and run scored. Bri Peterson took the loss, giving up four runs on five hits. 


TURNER 3, MONROE 2

BELOIT — It was deja vu for the Lady Cheesemakers, as the Trojans came away with a 3-2 win on May 6. Turner ended Monroe’s season last year in another one-run game.

Monroe received five hits from five different players — Kaegann Paulson, Katrina Sathoff, Sophie Golembiewski, Emma Tran and Chesney Slotten. Tran had the lone RBI.

Paulson suffered the loss, giving up three unearned runs on five hits. She struck out two and didn’t give a free pass.


MONROE 9, EAST TROY 3

MONROE — A nine-run second lifted the Cheesemakers over the Trojans on May 7. Brinley Roidt’s two-run homerun was the fifth hit of the inning and gave Monroe a 7-1 edge.

Kaegann Paulson led the team, going 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and one run scored. She was one of three players to have a multiple-hit game, including Katrina Sathoff and Sophie Golembiewski.

Pauslon also collected the win in the circle, giving up two earned runs on seven hits. She struck out 10 and didn’t issue a walk.
