OREGON — The Monroe-New Glarus swim team toppled Oregon-Belleville 114-51 Tuesday in a Badger South dual.
The Cheesemakers won 10 of the 11 races against the Panthers.
In the first race of the night, Monroe’s 200-meter medley relay team of Mekenzie Hammer, Karley Michels, Alyssa Roelli and Cammi Ganshert won with a time of 2:12.96. Monroe-New Glarus’s other relay teams also won, with the 200 freestyle relay squad of Roelli, Ganshert, Morgan Erstad and Francesca Schiro finishing with a time of 2:00.68, and the 400 freestyle relay quartet of Hammer, Erstad and Francesca and Nina Schiro blowing away Oregon by nearly 17 seconds with a final time of 4:22.39.
In the 200 freestyle, Erstad took home first place (2:19.64). Erstad also won the 100 backstroke (1:10.27).
Hammer was first in the 200 individual medley (2:31.73) by 13 seconds and won the 100 butterfly (1:09.55).
Michels was first overall in the 100 breaststroke (1:23.02), Roelli was the top finisher in the 50 freestyle (30.46) and Francesca Schiro won the 100 free (1:03.52).
The next meet for the Cheesemakers is Oct. 9 against Fort Atkinson at the Green County YMCA.
“(It) is our last home meet and it is Senior Night,” Monroe-New Glarus coach Linda Moser said.
From there, the Cheesemakers will swim at the Fort Atkinson Invitational Oct. 13, a dual at Monona Grove Oct. 16, the UW-Platteville Invitational Oct. 20 and then at the Badger Conference meet at Stoughton Oct. 27. Sectionals are slated for Baraboo Nov. 3 with state Nov. 9 in Madison.
