MONROE — The Cheesemakers fell to Monona Grove Oct. 9 at T.R. Holyoke Field 6-2.
The Silver Eagles took a 2-0 lead in the first half on goals before Monroe’s Daniel Lapp came through in the 33rd minute.
Monona Grove then scored the next four goals — all in the second half — before Devan Schulte, Monroe’s goalkeeper, scored in the 86th minute.
The Cheesemakers were able to put just four shots on goal in the game. Schulte had 11 saves.
In other area soccer news, Sugar River’s (11-1-1, 8-0 Capitol) final game of the regular season will be Monday against Lakeside Lutheran (5-3 Capitol) at 5 p.m. on the pitch in Belleville. The match is a makeup of a previously postponed game from Oct. 9. A win or draw would give the Raiders sole possession of first place in the Capitol Conference standings.
