The local sports scene had two big events in the Madison Metro area Friday.
At the UW-Natatorium, the Monroe-New Glarus swim team had six members compete at the state meet. Sophomore Mekenzie Hammer won the 200-yard individual medley for her second state title in two years.
Elsewhere in Middleton, the Black Hawk football team got redemption against Bangor, winning 24-6 to reach the state championship in Division 7, which will be played Thursday at 10 a.m. at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison. Last year Black Hawk lost to Bangor in the title game.
Full coverage of both events will be in the Wednesday, Nov. 14 edition of the Monroe Times.
