FOND DU LAC — The Green County Family YMCA’s GEMS Gymnastics Team attended the Candy Cane Classic Gymnastics meet on Dec. 9 and 10 at the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds Expo Center. The Fond du Lac YMCA hosted the meet where over 500 total participants from across 12 Wisconsin YMCAs were in attendance.
Gymnasts are classified into a number of different levels based upon their age and level of experience. Athletes typically compete in four different events including vault, bars, beam, and floor routine with each of the four events earning the gymnast a score. The scores for all four events are then added together to give each gymnast their all around score. The scores of each gymnast also contribute to the overall team score for each level.

Level 1 Team Members: Indie Edler (2nd Bars, 3rd All-Around), Lexie Weckerly, Ali Elmer (3rd Bars), Hannah Prahl (1st Beam, 2nd All-Around), Claire Mosher (2nd Vault, 3rd Bars, 1st Floor, 1st All-Around), Hayden Harried, Collins Smith (1st Beam), Lucy Strehlow, Addison Wolff (3rd Beam). Together, they took home the 1st Place Level 1 Team Trophy.
Level 2 Team Members: Hadleigh Newman (1st Vault, 3rd Bars, 1st Beam, 1st Floor, 1st All-Around), Haleigh Jubie (3rd Vault, 3rd Bars, 3rd All-Around), Averi Wolff (1st Bars, 3rd All-Around), Violet Schwindt, Jovi Steinmann (2nd Vault, 1st Bars, 3rd Beam, 1st Floor), Tobi Wolff, Laney Bawinkel (2nd Bars), Reagan Boatman, Katlyn Schmitz (3rd Vault, 1st Bars, 1st Beam, 1st Floor, 1st All-Around). Together, they took home the 1st Place Level 2 Team Trophy.
Level 3 Team Members: Ruby Edler (3rd Bars), Nora Peterson, Clara Lucas (1st Vault, 1st Bars, 1st Beam, 1st All-Around), Allison Curran (2nd Bars, 1st Beam, 3rd Floor, 2nd All-Around), Julia Keehn (2nd Floor, 3rd All-Around), Aubree Cook (1st Vault, 3rd Beam, 2nd All-Around), Kiara Cook, Sydney Dunlavy (1st Beam, 3rd Floor, 1st All-Around), Mylie Jelle (1st Vault, 3rd Bars, 1st Beam, 2nd Floor, 1st All-Around), Emily Menter (1st Bars, 2nd Beam, 2nd All-Around). Together, they took home the 1st Place Level 3 Team Trophy.
Level 6 Team Members: Jackson Kundert (1st Floor, 3rd All-Around), Elliana Shank, Addison Curran, Brynlee Scace (2nd Bars), Maddie Ruegsegger (2nd Beam, 3rd Floor, 3rd All-Around). The Level 6 Team placed 4th.
Level 7 Team Members: Riley Nicholson (2nd Bars, 3rd All-Around), Aleigh Zettle (2nd Vault).
Xcel Silver Team Members: Evelyn Buholzer (1st Bars, 3rd Floor, 2nd All-Around), Rebecca Froseth (2nd Bars), Elise McKenzie (2nd Vault). Together, they took home the 3rd Place Xcel Silver Team Trophy.
Xcel Gold Team Members: Brianna Ziolkowski (3rd Vault, 2nd Bars, 1st Beam, 1st All-Around), Mary McKenzie (3rd Beam, 3rd Floor). Together, they took home the 3rd Place Xcel Gold Team Trophy.
Xcel Platinum Level: Mads Josephs (2nd Vault, 2nd Beam, 1st Floor, 2nd All-Around).
