SOUTH WAYNE — With a 56-37 win over Black Hawk on Thursday, Dec. 21, Albany extended its winning streak to four games. The last time the Comets won four games in a row was the 2015-16 season with victories over River Ridge, Black Hawk, Belmont and Juda.
Black Hawk took an early 6-2 lead, but Albany responded with a 12-0 run to gain the advantage.
Kaden Zurfluh and Ty Durtschi combined for 33 points with six 3-pointers. Caleb Smith and Tyler Patchen led on the defensive end with 15 combined rebounds.
David Wills led Black Hawk with 17 points, including three 3-pointers. Andrew Figi chipped in another 12 points with 10 rebounds for a double-double.
DARLINGTON 87, IOWA-GRANT 49
DARLINGTON — Although its loss to Mineral Point dropped the team to No. 4 in Division 4, Darlington responded in a big way with a 38-point SWAL win on Thursday, Dec. 21.
Will Murray led the way with a double-double, scoring 19 points with 10 rebounds. Broker Buschor paced the offense with 23 points. Zeke Zuberbuhler also contributed with 13 points, including three baskets beyond the arc.
PECATONICA 65, JUDA 30
JUDA — With a 36-16 lead at halftime, Pecatonica cruised to a conference win over Juda on Thursday, Dec. 21. The Vikings bested the Panthers in every statistical category except for free-throw percentage (75%-50%) and offensive rebounds (13-7).
Three of Pecatonica’s five starters finished in double figures — as did two on the bench. Jameson Johnson led the offense with 15 points. Cohlman Schlimgen tallied 14 points, going 4-for-5 from beyond the arc. Charles Anderson scored a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Evan Dochnal and Tyler McKeon put up 10 points each.
Braydon Steinmann and Treston Gobeli paced the Panther offense with eight points each, while Jayden Brown grabbed eight rebounds.
MARSHALL 86, BRODHEAD 72
MARSHALL — In a battle of Cardinals, Marshall pulled away in the second half for a nonconference win on Thursday, Dec. 21.
Jaxon Dooley led Brodhead with 29 points, going 9-for-11 from the free-throw line. Cullen Walker (16), Gabe Bockhop (12) and Sam Searls (10) also finished in double figures. As a team, Brodhead shot 13-for-18 from the line for 72%.
In other local boys basketball action, Argyle (3-0) defeated Barneveld (2-1) 55-37 to take control of the Six Rivers East.
