MONROE — Brodhead won the Green County Open May 13 at Monroe Golf Club, carding a team score of 338. Evansville (346) was second, followed by New Glarus (362), Monroe (371) and Monticello-Belleville (374).
Parkview’s Trey Oswald was the medalist, finishing with a 6-over-par 76. Brodhead senior Onni Oliver — the lone girl in the field — finished with a 78. Grant Purdue had an 80 for Brodhead, with Nolan Oliver capping his score at 87.
Monroe was led by Bert Leach’s 81. Zak Arnett led New Glarus with an 88, while Jack Douma (90), Carter Siegenthaler (91) and Ben Lukszys (93) were all within striking distance.
Peyton Smith and Josh Potter tied atop Monticello-Belleville’s leaderboard with 92s each.
Brodhead had played in the Rock Valley Ryder Cup days before. The Ryder Cup is played with each school sending off three 2-person teams. Other rules include Best Ball for holes 1-6, Alternate Shot on 7-12, and Scamble for 13-18.
Purdue and Austin Moe were one of Brodhead’s teams, while cousins Nolan and Onni Oliver were the second and Jacob Moyer and Ethan Bahlmann the third. The Olivers won the Ryder Cup with a score of 74. Purdue and Moe were 10th (87).
Edgerton won the team title with a 233, while Whitewater (254) and Brodhead (262) finished Top 3 in the 8-team field.
