MONTICELLO — Juda-Albany sophomore Avary Briggs tossed a no-hitter in a five-inning, 16-0 win over Monticello-New Glarus April 11. Briggs faced just one batter over the minimum, despite two walks, as catcher Myah Johnson threw out MNG’s Dalana Trumpy on a steal attempt.

“Juda-Albany is a solid program,” said Mitch Cernek, MNG head coach. “(They) finished second in the state last year, and are strong contenders for a Six Rivers East Conference title this spring. MNG is still developing and looking to change the culture in the program.”

Cernek said his team “had some real nice play” from shortstop Kylie Liegel on defense, including a smooth backhanded flip to get a runner out at third base late in the game. She also added multiple 8-plus pitch at bats on offense, drawing two walks. Trumpy also walked and lined out for MNG.
