MONROE — The Black Hawk girls and New Glarus boys both retained their No. 1 rankings in the latest Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association state rankings.

The polls, released Dec. 11 on WisSports.net, had Black Hawk (5-0) in the top spot in the girls Division 5 standings ahead of unbeaten Clayton (6-0). Argyle (4-1) was fifth.

In the Division 2 girl’s poll, Monroe (5-2) fell one spot to third. New Berlin Eisenhower (5-1), which beat Monroe in the state semifinal last season, moved from second to third while two-time defending state champion Beaver Dam (6-0) is first.

On the boy’s side, New Glarus (6-0) led the Division 4 poll ahead of a slew of unbeaten teams. Roncalli (4-0) moved from fourth to second, Oshkosh Lourdes (4-0) went from seventh to third, and Marathon (3-0) moved from fifth to fourth.

Mineral Point (2-2) fell from second to eighth after a SWAL conference loss to Darlington (5-0), which entered the poll at No. 6 after being unranked in Week 2. The SWAL is well represented in the polls, with Fennimore (5-1) also being ranked in Week 2, coming in at No. 9, and Southwestern (5-0) ranked 10th in Division 5.

Elsewhere in Division 5, Pecatonica (5-1) is ranked ninth, while Six Rivers West rival Potosi (2-0) is fourth.
