Albany edges Juda; Monticello tips Pec

ALBANY — The Albany Comets knocked off the Juda Panthers on Sept. 1 in four games, 25-12, 20-25, 25-13, 25-19.

Rachel Wildt had seven aces and Anna Ellinger had five for Albany, which collected 20 aces as a team on the night. Ellinger also had eight kills and 15 assists. Alana Durtschi finished with seven kills and 27 digs, Avary Briggs had five kills, and Myah Johnson tallied 14 assists.

Juda’s Jackie Nusbaum dished out 36 assists, while Ciarrah Davis ended the night with 18 digs and Briliey Swedlund six blocks.

Both teams are now 1-1 in Six Rivers East play.


Monticello 3, Pecatonica 0

BLANCHARDVILLE — The defending Six Rivers East champs had to fight all night, but held off a valiant effort from the host Vikings. Monticello defeated Pecatonica in straight sets 25-21, 26-24, 25-15.

“We were down the whole second match and battled back from 18-24 with Dalana Trumpy serving,” said Rebecca Gustafson, Monticello coach.

Trumpy finished the night with three aces. Kelsy Grant also had three aces and added 24 assists. Ellie Gustafson tallied 24 kills and 13 digs.

In other area action, Monroe lost to Beloit Turner in straight sets, 25-15, 25-9, 25-20.
