Lake Mills edges New Glarus

NEW GLARUS - Two Lake Mills pitchers combined to throw a two-hitter and struck out 15 to lead the L-Cats to a 4-1 win over the New Glarus baseball team on Friday.

New Glarus committed three errors. Lake Mills scored two runs in the second inning to take a 2-1 lead and never looked back.

New Glarus pitcher Jared Carney tossed a complete game. He gave up two earned runs on eight hits. He struck out one and walked one.

With the loss, New Glarus drops to 5-12.

New Glarus will play at Mauston today. The Glarner Knights will play at Parkview in a regional quarterfinal game May 25.



Benton-Shullsburg 10, Argyle 0

Benton-Shullsburg 4, Argyle 2

ARGYLE - Shullsburg-Benton swept a doubleheader from Argyle on Friday.

Benton-Shullsburg's Alex Wand had an RBI single in the first inning. Benton-Shullsburg scored two runs in the second and three runs in the third to take a 6-0 lead.

Argyle's Mason Waage and Brent Ritschard each had one hit in the first game.

Argyle senior Cam Treuthardt pitched four innings and gave up eight runs - three earned runs on six hits. He struck out five and walked six.

With the two losses, Argyle drops to 9-11, 6-7 Six Rivers East.

In the second game of the twin bill, Argyle's Travis Dammen delivered a two-run single in the first to give the Orioles a 2-0 lead. Benton-Shullsburg rallied with two runs in the third to take a 3-2 lead. Argyle's Mitch Flannery went 2-for-4.

Argyle junior Miken Godfrey pitched a complete game and gave up one earned run on seven hits. He struck out two and walked one.

Argyle received a third-seed in the WIAA Division 4 regional and will host sixth-seeded Belmont May 25.
