Janecke scores four goals in nail-biter

MONROE - The Avalanche Squirt A team lost a home opener 7-6 to Oregon A Saturday, Nov. 9.

Tessa Janecke opened the scoring with a goal on an assist by Alyssa Knauf. Oregon responded with three goals in this hard fought game. Janecke scored a second goal on an assist by Lilah Bauer.

Alyssa Knauf scored a second period goal on an assist by Janecke, while Oregon put up two goals.

In the third period, Janecke added two more goals on assists by Knauf. Knauk added a goal, but with Oregon responded with two more at the end of the third period.

Goalie Aiden Runkle recorded 28 saves. The Squirt A team next takes on the Waunakee Wildcats and Sauk Prairie this weekend.



PeeWee A

The PeeWee A team split two weekend games. On Saturday, Nov. 9 they hosted Oregon A but were outplayed 11-1. Travis Edmunds scored a goal on an assist by Joe Wyss and Luke Kuberski.

On Sunday Nov. 10, the PeeWee A team traveled to Reedsburg. It was a tough battle between these two evenly matched teams. Reedsburg took an early 3-0 lead. Kuberski scored the first goal for the PeeWee team off an assist by Travis Edmunds. Edmunds tacked on another goal on an assist by Cade Janecke.

Reedsburg responded with another goal, answered by two more from the Avalanche from Joe Wyss (assisted by Anika Einbeck) and Tessa Janecke. With the game tied 4-4, the coaches elected to have a sudden death eight minute overtime. With less than a minute on the clock, Edmunds put one in the net, giving the Avalanche a 5-4 win in this tough battle.

The Avalanche put 38 shots on the Reedsburg goalie. Jayden Johnson recorded 34 saves for the Avalanche.



White MITE

The Avalanche White Mite team came out strong against the Polar Caps from Madison. With unassisted goals from Seth Brandt and Jaryn Fonseca, the Mites came out on top, 2-1. Cash Anderson recorded three saves in goal.

In their second game, Marlies Brandli lit the lamp off an assist from Karlee Boll. The one goal wasn't enough to hold off the Stoughton team and the Avalanche lost 3-1. Anderson had nine saves.

In the final game of the day, the Avalanche Mites skated to a 5-1 win. Goals were scored by Seth Brandt on an assist by Xander Obert and Brandt returned the favor for Obert to score. Also scoring goals unassisted were Brandli, Wyatt Janecke and Gavin Roth.

Anderson had only three saves due to the quick thinking defense of the whole team.

Saturday, Nov. 16 is teacher and grandparent appreciation day at SLICE in Monroe. Levels Atoms through Bantams will all host home games.
