HOME TALENT:: Monroe wins thriller; Wiota eases by Tourists

MONROE - The Monroe Brewers picked up an exciting 3-2 win Sunday over Argyle in the second week of Home Talent League baseball action.

Monroe scored two runs in the first inning. Scott White walked and scored on a fielder's choice groundout by Lon Scheuerell. Mike Cleary also hit a fielder's choice RBI.

Monroe's third run came in the fourth inning as Adam Siegenthaler drove in Cleary with a single. Monroe only had three hits.

Argyle scored its first run in the seventh. With two outs in the ninth and runners on first and second, Jared Bauman hit a double to right center to score the second run. Brian Ritschard attempted to score from first, but was caught in a rundown between third and home to end the game.

Cody Boals struck out 10 hitters to pick up the win for Monroe. Ben Korth garnered the save.

Ritschard and Joe Johnson each were 2-for-4 for Argyle.

Wiota 14,

New Glarus 4

WIOTA - Brock Bidlingmaier picked up the win for the Indians, allowing four runs in five innings of work. Nick Flannery pitched the final two innings for the Indians.

Wiota scored four runs in both the second and fourth innings, and added three runs in both the sixth and seventh innings.

New Glarus had only three hits, compared to six errors. Wiota finished with 16 hits.
