JEFFERSON - Brodhead senior Taylor Gerlach had an RBI hit in the second inning to propel the Cardinals to a 1-0 win over Jefferson Thursday.
Gerlach went 2-for-3 and senior Payton Wright was 2-for-3 with one run scored.
Brodhead senior Brooke Boegli pitched a complete game to get the win. She tossed a six-hit shutout. She struck out one and didn't issue a walk. After losing four straight games to start the season, Brodhead (7-10, 6-8 Rock Valley South) has won five of its last six games entering the regional tournament.
Juda-Albany 6, Benton-Shulls., 2
JUDA - Juda-Albany senior Molly Marass went 2-for-3 with one RBI and junior Danielle Dieckoff drove in two runs to lead the Panthers to a 6-2 win over Benton-Shullsburg Thursday.
Juda-Albany (19-4, 14-1 Six Rivers East), ranked No. 4 in the Division 4 Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association state poll, erupted for five runs in the first inning. Juda-Albany sophomore Alexis Goecks went 2-for-3 and senior Cheyenne Ambler was 2-for-4. Despite scoring five runs in the first, the Panthers left 14 runners on base.
"We hit the ball well early," Juda-Albany coach Bill Davis said. "When you get to the playoffs you can't do that (leave 14 on base). That is a way to a quick exit. It seemed like we were one hit away from a big inning."
Juda-Albany freshman Nicki Becker pitched a complete game to get the win. She gave up one earned run on five hits. She struck out nine and walked one.
Belleville 7, Lodi 6
BELLEVILLE - For the second straight game, the Belleville softball team came back to win.
This time, the Wildcats rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning and freshman Cassidy Heller delivered a game-winning RBI single to right center field to give Belleville a 7-6 win.
"The biggest thing for me is we shouldn't wait so long to get going," Belleville coach Connie Wunschel said.
Belleville's Miranda O'Rourke, singled in the seventh to start the rally. Claire Johnsrud reached on an error and Heller came through with the game-winning hit. Heller went 3-for-4 with three RBI, a double and triple. O'Rourke also went 3-for-4 to lead the Wildcats. With the win, Belleville improves to 11-11, 6-9 Capitol South.
Belleville's Tara Hanna hit a two-run home run in the fifth to help the Wildcats cut the Blue Devils' lead to 5-4.
Belleville's Ryley Helwig pitched three innings and gave up three earned runs on five hits. Heller pitched four innings in relief and gave up just two unearned runs on three hits. She struck out four and walked one.
Parkview 7, Pecatonica 2
BLANCHARDVILLE - Parkview jumped out to an early lead and didn't look back in a 7-2 win over Pecatonica.
Parkview scored two runs in the first inning and collected 10 hits en route to the win.
Pecatonica senior Molly Hendrickson went 2-for-3 to lead the Vikings and junior Clara Moen was 2-for-4.
Pecatonica senior Emily Scoville pitched a complete game and gave up three earned runs on 10 hits. She struck out seven and walked one.
