Comets sweep Pec; Black Hawk continues streak

ALBANY - Last season, the Albany Comets defeated everyone in the Six Rivers East except conference champion Black Hawk and runner-up Pecatonica. Tuesday night, the Comets took care of business with Pecatonica in a three-game sweep, 25-13, 25-17, 25-19.

The Comets (2-0 in the Six Rivers East, 4-1 overall) got a solid performance from Sydney Bump with 10 kills and two blocks. Hillary Best had eight kills and Courtney Pfeuti added 10 assists to lead the Comets.

The Vikings (1-2 in the Six Rivers East) were led by Cassie Swenson with four kills. Ellie Gifford had five assists and one ace.

Albany travels to Juda, Thursday, while Pecatonica hosts Monticello.

New Glarus 0

NEW GLARUS - The Glarner Knights fell in three games to the Cardinals, 25-19, 25-11, 25-20, in Capitol Conference South volleyball Tuesday night.

Junior Lauren Narveson led the way for the Glarner Knights with four kills, three digs, three aces and seven assists. Mara Gartzke contributed with two blocks.

New Glarus will host defending Division 3 State Champion Wisconsin Heights Thursday night.

Black Hawk 3, Barneveld 0

BARNEVELD - The Black Hawk Warriors swept the Barneveld Eagles, 25-10, 25-16, 25-18, for their 27th straight conference win dating back to the 2007-08 season, Tuesday.

The Warriors will compete in the Lancaster Invitational, Saturday.
