MONROE - The Monroe girls basketball team received a No. 1 seed and a first-round bye in the WIAA Division 2 Verona regional.
Monroe (20-1, 11-0 Badger South) has won seven-straight conference championships. Monroe, ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press Division 2 state poll, will play the winner of Dodgeville and Platteville, which play Tuesday, March 9. All regional WIAA regional games, will begin March 9, except teams that have earned a first-round bye.
Brodhead (12-8) received a No. 2 seed and will host Evansville.
Division 3
New Glarus (7-13) got the seventh seed and will play at Belleville in the Monroe regional. Darlington (6-13) will play at Cuba City, the No. 1 ranked team in Division 3, which is looking to make a return trip to state.
Division 4
Black Hawk (19-1, 11-0 Six Rivers East), ranked third in the state in Division 4, received a No. 1 seed. The Warriors will begin their quest to get back to state when they play eighth-seeded Benton in the Darlington regional. Argyle (2-18) received a No. 6 seed and will play at Southwestern. Pecatonica (9-12) got a No. 5 seed and will play at Shullsburg.
Juda (10-11) got a No. 2 seed in the Division 4 Clinton regional. The Panthers will host Williams Bay. Albany received a No. 3 seed and will host Monticello (8-10).
