MONROE - The score was tied until the 78th minute when Fort Atkinson put in the go-ahead goal and held on for the 2-1 win over the Cheesemakers.
Taylor Teasdale had the lone goal for Monroe (6-10-1, 2-4 Badger South). The unassisted score tied the game just before the 35 minute mark and appeared to swing the momentum in the Cheesemakers favor.
"They scored first off a mistake by our goalie two minutes into the game," Monroe coach Tony Vasquez said. "We tied it up and took momentum."
The Cheesemakers had numerous chances to take the lead late, but the Blackhawks took the ball as Monroe was threatening and scored a goal of their own.
"Fort Atkinson may be the best team we've faced yet, that's why they will take the Badger South conference," Vasquez said. "I think we did well."
