EDGERTON - Monroe senior Josie Eberle cleared 10 feet to win the pole vault Friday and helped the Cheesemaker girls track team finish third place at the Tider Invitational in Edgerton.
"Josie had a very busy night," Monroe girls track coach Matt Davis said. "Josie has been doing well in the vault all year. She's continuing the tradition at Monroe. I'm just happy to see that."
Jefferson ran away with the team title, racking up 130 points. Lodi finished second (96) just ahead of Monroe (95.5).
In the boys' invitational, Elkhorn edged the Cheesemakers for the team title 91-90.
The Monroe girls track team continued their dominance in the hurdles, sweeping the top two spots in the 100-meter hurdles. Monroe senior Jordan Hirsbrunner won the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.54 seconds and senior Casey Rielly finished second (16.30).
Hirsbrunner also won the 300 hurdles (44.94) and took second in the high jump (5 feet, 2 inches).
"With the hurdles, it's really nice to have a strong one-two punch," Davis said of Hirsbrunner and Rielly. "Casey and Jordan are a force to be reckoned with. Casey ran one of her best times of the year and Jordan has been on fire."
Freshman Cassi Gersbach won the triple jump with a jump of 32-1.
"I knew she could jump really well, but it was a surprise to see her go that far," Davis said of Gersbach. "For a freshman, she is looking to do some big things in the three years to come."
Sophomore Cammi Ganshert placed third in the 200 and fourth in the 100 (12.88). Hirsbrunner added a fourth-place finish in the 200.
The Cheesemakers' 1,600 relay team finished third (4:19.59) and both the 400 relay (51.43) and 800 relay (1:53.61) took fourth.
"All of our relays were very competitive," Davis said. "As the weather warms up, the times will get better and faster."
Monroe sophomore Jordan Montgomery won the 100-meter dash (11.41 seconds) and was one of two event winners for the Monroe boys track team.
"He's really into it," Monroe boys track coach Scott Mosher said of Montgomery. "He puts everything into practice. He's a very competitive kid. It's nice to see that his hard work pays off."
The Cheesemakers' 3,200 relay team of juniors Jonah Tostrud, Drake Ingold, Jason Koller and Dylan Scace finished first with a time of 8 minutes, 6.33 seconds.
"We wanted to run hard to see what we could do," Mosher said. "It's six seconds faster than we ran last year at this time. I've seen only one team, La Crosse Central, run faster and that was at the Kansas Relays."
Monroe junior Brayden Zettle took second in the triple jump (41-11) and fourth in the 200 (23.99). Koller took second in the 400 (52.19).
Senior Trevor Aebly took third in the 110 high hurdles (15.64) and Scace placed third in the 3,200 (10:05.44).
