MONONA GROVE - Monroe senior Meaghan Tomasiewicz helped vault the Monroe girls track team to a fifth-place finish at the Monona Grove Invitational on Saturday. Tomasiewicz won the pole vault after clearing 10 feet, 6 inches and she won the high jump (5-2).

"To win an event at the MG Invite is pretty special," Monroe girls track coach Curt Miller said. "We are just trying to fine-tune for the meet (conference) on Tuesday."

Monroe junior Tess Seichter won the 3,200-meter run with a time of 12 minutes, 1.42 seconds.

"We are trying to figure out if we are going to let her go after that (3,200) in the regional," Miller said. "I think she proved she can contend with some really good competition."

Black Hawk's 400 relay team of Katie Place, Rachel Rygh, Savannah Ernzen and Hailey Meier took second place with a time of :52.24, which was less than a second behind Middleton.

"They (Black Hawk) have a heck of a 4x100 relay," Miller said. "It was nice to run with some good competition in that one."

The Cheesemakers' 400 relay team of Maria Eberle, Stephanie Wyss, Ty Gibson and Jaclyn Ditter finished fifth (:52.90).
