BOYS BASKETBALL: New Glarus halts Pec; Warriors win opener

BLANCHARDVILLE - The New Glarus boys basketball team used a balanced attack to pick up a 58-45 non-conference win Tuesday over Pecatonica.

The Glarner Knights had four players score in double figures, led by junior Cameron Jeglum's team-high 11 points.

Cassidy Flannery, Ryan Bright and Jeremy Langfoss each scored 10 points.

The Knights outscored the Vikings 15-7 in the second quarter to lead 27-16 at halftime.

The Knights won despite shooting 9-of-24 from the free throw line.

The Vikings were led by senior Kaleb Feller, who scored a game-high 20 points, including 8-of-9 from the free throw line.

BLACK HAWK 43, BELMONT 35

SOUTH WAYNE - Black Hawk's Payton Schliem and T.J. Adams combined for five 3-pointers to lift the Warriors to a season-opening win over Belmont.

The Warriors jumped out to a 13-5 first-quarter lead. Three players scored in double figures. Senior Shane Jackson and Schliem had a team-high 11 points each. Adams finished with 10 points.

BELOIT TURNER 55, JUDA 45

BELOIT - Juda sophomore Dylan Bauman scored 19 points, but it wasn't enough as the Panthers lost at Beloit Turner.

Juda senior Beau Benner added nine points and Steve West chipped in eight.

The Panthers (0-2) outscored Beloit Turner 27-26 in the second half.

Juda opens Six Rivers East Conference play Friday when it hosts preseason favorite Barneveld.

"It doesn't get any easier for us," Juda coach Andrew Werner said.

DARLINGTON 59, HIGHLAND 33

DARLINGTON - Darlington sophomore Alex Erickson scored a game-high 22 points as the Redbirds crushed Highland.

Darlington (1-1) raced out to a 17-6 first-quarter lead and held an 18-point advantage at halftime.

Redbirds senior Brett Hardyman added eight points. Tucker Wiegel and Ethan Pickett had seven points apiece.

Darlington hit eight 3-pointers.
