ITHACA - The Black Hawk Warriors trailed by 14 points at halftime and couldn't catch up in a 72-59 non-conference loss to the Ithaca Bulldogs in the season opener Tuesday.
The Warriors trailed 36-22 at halftime and went just 11-22 at the free throw line for the game.
Senior Michael Wolff led the Warriors with 21 points including three 3-pointers. Sophomore Merik Meythaler added 10 points for Black Hawk.
The Warriors' next scheduled game is Tuesday at home in non-conference action against Warren, Ill.
Mineral Point 68, Pecatonica 40
MINERAL POINT - The Pointers snapped a three game losing streak dating back to 2003 against the Vikings with a 68-40 win over the Vikings in a non-conference game Tuesday.
Mineral Point jumped out to a 17-2 first quarter lead on Pecatonica to take control early. Garrett Bennett scored 21 points, all in the second half, and Dakota Poad scored 14 points to lead Mineral Point. The Pointers also got 13 second-half points from Travis Steffes.
The Vikings were led by Karson Feller with 19 points, 17 of those points coming in the second half. Wyatt Massey chipped in with eight points and Tanner Kleppe added seven points for Pecatonica.
The Vikings will host Cuba City in a non-conference game Tuesday.
