Avalanche Mite B team edges Janesville

MONROE - The Monroe Avalanche Mite A team traveled to Janesville Saturday and Sunday to play against the Janesville Mite A's.

Monroe had an early 2-0 lead but Janesville came back to tie it in the second period. In the third period Monroe was up 5-3 but ended up losing the game 6-5. Cade Janecke led the Avalanche with a hat trick, while Joe Wyss and Travis Edmunds each added a goal and Emma Ness had an assist. Payton Stauffacher had 13 saves in the contest.

Last Sunday, the Monroe Avalanche Mite B team traveled to Janesville to square-off against the Janesville Mite B team and the Avalanche edged Janesville for a 3-2 win.

In the first period, Monroe's Payton Stauffacher opened the scoring for the Avalanche with a breakaway goal. He then added another rebound score later in the first.

Then, Janesville answered back early in the second period to bring the game within one goal. Next, Monroe's Tessa Janecke scored on a wrap-around goal with one second remaining in the second period to make it a 3-1 game.

Janesville scored one more goal in the third period, but Monroe held them off for a 3-2 victory. Luke Kuberski registered nine saves in the game.
